Hi Robyn, it's good as always to hear from you, and to be reminded of the physical, chemical etc reasons for doing the things we do.

After two weeks with people of all ages (16 to 76) spending their holidays learning Gaelic - and seeing everyone totally thriving on the experience - I am more convinced than ever of the benefits to our well-being of a lifelong love and pursuit of learning.

Hi Stephen, it's good to hear from you. I think your version of this way of looking at the world is pretty nifty - I might well use it myself in the future - thanks!

Maya Angelou is a favorite of mine. It was fun to find a quote here. And just to add to what has been said, if we don't continue to learn, grow and change, our brain cells literally shrink. That says it all...

That really is the trick, ain't it? Being able to change your mindset when all else fails. Been there, done that. I know that sometimes it's difficult to change the surroundings, so we have to change ourselves. Some people see this as hypocrisy, but what they fail to remember is that age old saying "Things don't change, we change".
So I totally agree. "If you can't change the scene, changing the way you are seeing." (Chortle, I just made that up!)
